Large experiment with Plaster and Different Materials

Details from large work, showing where the waterproof membrane repelled parts of the plaster. As the plaster started to solidify I moulded the membrane and finer material into interesting forms.

The top work process was a simple charcoal rubbing on chicken wire and floor debris, which caught my eye. I didnt overwork it as I could see so many possibilites I like this work.

The bottom form is a close up from a large work consisting, of membrane formed in various thickness of plaster of paris then moulded into an initial form, next I applied different materials, to achieve transparent parts and section of interest.

Cut membrane plaited and twisted together to acheive interesting effect.

The top image I scrunched membrane into a tight form, then as it uncurled itself i sprayed it with paint.

The top photo shows an experiment with hessian and plaster of varying thickness, the bottom is a rubbing using charcoal and wool rings the rippleing effect is interesting



Paint dragging Effect

I used acrylic paint with moss but this didnt work so I removed the moss, and dragged the paint for a more interesting effect, inspired by Gerhard Richter

Mark Making with Paint and Wood

I dipped an interesting piece of wood in to paint I rather like this effect.

This time I dragged the wood loaded with paint.
